Which Loader Stays Clean and Cool?

Posted: 16/10/2016

Intelligent Cooling

You’re probably not thinking about your loader’s cooling system when it’s working. However, it directly impacts engine life. A cooler, cleaner machine lasts longer. Bobcat® loaders use a patented design that intelligently directs clean air through your engine. However, not every manufacturer designs cooling systems the same way. Kubota®, Caterpillar®, Case® and New Holland® loaders allow dirty, dusty air to enter the engine compartment. Watch the test to see for yourself.

Most people know that cooling systems are crucial to prevent the engine and hydraulic systems from overheating. When components overheat, they prematurely wear. This contributes to frequent and higher maintenance costs and can shorten your machine’s service life. That’s why some loader brands design efficient cooling systems to pull heat away from key components.

Have you ever given much thought to your machine’s cooling system? You should, because how manufacturers design their cooling systems can vary in efficiency and performance. That’s why it’s important to evaluate your options and know what to look for when considering a compact track loader. We tested the top brands to see the differences. Which loader has the best cooling system? Watch the test to find out.

Test Results

We tested each loader’s cooling system by running a smoke machine over and around the tailgate and tracks. This shows where fans pull in air for cooling the engine. Air from the top of the engine is generally cleaner than air pulled from the sides of the loader. That’s because tracks can pick up dirt and dust, which the cooling system can suck into the engine compartment.

How We Test Equipment

When you’re shopping for a new machine, it’s easy to compare specs. After all, that’s the best way to compare machines, right? Not quite. With specs, you’re only getting part of the story. They don’t measure real performance on your jobsite and that’s what matters most. It’s the reason we put top brands through the paces with fair, accurate, and repeatable tests. Watch to see how we developed the tests.
